Bymi (“we,” “us,” “our”) is operated by Solve For Solutions LLC. Bymi is a website that lets a food creator turn their own Instagram posts into their own restaurant guide — a map of the places they’ve featured, which the creator reviews, approves, and chooses to publish. This policy describes exactly what the Bymi website collects, how we use it, the controls you have, and what we will never do. By using the Bymi website, you agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
Food creators who connect Instagram (the only people who create an account):
- Instagram profile basics — when a creator connects through Instagram’s official login, we receive their username, account ID, display name, and profile picture to set up their Bymi creator profile.
- The creator’s own posts — we read the creator’s own Instagram media (captions and post links) only to identify the restaurants they featured. We access only the connecting creator’s own content — never anyone else’s.
- What we store — the restaurant name and a derived location for each spot the creator approves, the post link, and an encrypted Instagram access token used to fetch their own content.
People who view a published guide need no account, and we do not ask them for any personal information. We do not collect device location, contacts, photos, or microphone access through this website.
2. Instagram / Meta data
Bymi uses the Instagram Platform (Meta) for exactly two purposes, and no others:
-
instagram_business_basic: read the connecting creator’s own profile (username, name, profile picture) and their own media (captions, post links) to build and display that creator’s restaurant guide. We never access content from accounts that have not authorized Bymi. - oEmbed Read (
meta_oembed_read): when a reel appears on a creator’s published guide, we use Meta’s official oEmbed Read API to render it. The reel is served directly from Instagram’s servers; we do not download or permanently store reel video, caption text, or thumbnail images obtained through oEmbed. See Meta’s oEmbed documentation.
Our use follows the Meta Platform Terms, the Meta Developer Policies, and Instagram’s terms.
3. What we will never do
- We do not sell, license, or rent Instagram data or any personal data.
- We do not use Instagram data for advertising, ad targeting, or to build or augment user profiles.
- We do not access, scrape, or display content from accounts that have not connected and authorized Bymi.
- We do not aggregate creators’ content into a third-party dataset or sell access to it.
- We do not transfer Instagram data to data brokers or unrelated third parties.
- We do not track you across other sites, and we use no advertising or tracking cookies.
4. Creator control
A connected creator is always in control of their own data and guide:
- Review & approve — no spot appears anywhere until the creator approves it.
- Publish on/off — a guide is public only when the creator turns it on, and they can unpublish at any time.
- Re-confirm window — published guides ask the creator to re-confirm every 30/60/90 days; if they don’t, the guide reverts to private.
- Disconnect — disconnecting Instagram removes the access token, hides the creator’s spots, and unpublishes the guide.
- Deauthorize from Instagram — if a creator removes Bymi from their Instagram settings, Meta notifies us and we take their content down and stop all access.
5. Other services we use
- Meta / Instagram — creator authorization and oEmbed rendering of the creator’s own content.
- Google Places — to resolve a restaurant’s address from its name (server-side; we send the place name, not your personal data).
- Hosting & maps — our hosting and map-rendering providers, used to operate the site. They may keep standard, non-identifying server logs for security and reliability.
6. Cookies & storage
Bymi uses no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. When a creator signs in, we store a session token in the browser’s session storage so the dashboard works; it is cleared when the browser session ends or the creator disconnects.
7. Data retention & deletion
- Self-serve: a creator can disconnect or delete their account at any time from the creator dashboard, which removes their stored content and revokes Bymi’s access.
- Access tokens are stored encrypted and retained only while the account stays connected; they are deleted on disconnect, account deletion, or removal of Bymi from Instagram.
- By email: contact info@bymi.app and we will delete your data within 30 days.
For step-by-step instructions and Meta’s data-deletion callback, see our Data Deletion page.
8. Children
Bymi is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
9. Changes
We may update this policy; we’ll revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide notice on the site.
